CSU Employees Union
Chapter 320

Chapter 320 Bargaining Units

What is a bargaining unit?
The CSU system has almost 17,000 employees, and not all of them perform the same type of work. Therefore employees are divided into what are known as bargaining units, a collection of employees who were (originally) supposed to perform roughly approximate duties.

What are the various bargaining units?
The bargaining units are broken down as follows:

Unit 2 - Health Center

Unit 5 - Custodial and Grounds

Unit 7 - Administrative and Clerical

Unit 9 - Technical, and whatever else was 'left over' (Including firefighters, fish tank cleaners, and boat captains)

How do I know what bargaining unit I'm part of?
Check with your campus union officers, or any steward. They will be able to look up your current classification and tell you what unit on campus represents you

Who are the bargaining unit representatives, and what do they do?
The bargaining unit representatives (one for each unit) function as an employee's point of information on campus. They are given specialized information which is unique to that bargaining unit, in order to help them best serve campus employees.

The new Bargaining Unit Representatives are:

Unit 2 - Kathi Cole

Unit 5 - Rick Berry

Unit 7 - Annel Martin

Unit 9 - Rich McGee
